Hey All,
I haven't been perusing Facebook this evening but got a message from my niece about an incident at Ladbrokes and how I was a bit slow on the up take to fill you in with the news.
Below is a post via Matthew Mears who has more information than me but all in all its quite shocking that this should happen again in the town as we have had quite a few armed robberies in the town, I even remember the Trophy shop getting held up a few years ago.
But Matt has a point Ladbrokes should be ashamed that they leave one member of staff in a shop with a weekends takings, that is bad enough but the fact its a mother is worse.
Do they not have risk assessments? I have never been inside so couldn't tell you the layout but in others Ive been in there is no barrier between you and the staff like as in a bank.
But with large amounts of cash on the premises how could one member of staff ever be enough.
Ladbrokes. What an utterly verminous company.
They know that single-manned shops are disproportionately vulnerable to robbery, and they leave a mother on her own in a shop in a small town with no police station, on a Sunday night with the weekend's takings on the premises.
"Don't believe them when they make a statement expressing their concern for the lady in question after she had a shotgun held to her head this evening.
Please share this status, and shame them into treating their staff properly in future. And most importantly, never ever have a bet in their shop, on their website, or on the phone with them again."

So Im back and after having a dig online I came across the Safe Bet Alliance http://goo.gl/xYKbTr which is meant to help Bookmakers reduce crime and which when it was implemented had a 60% reduction and Im sure one of those recommendations would of been not to have staff on there own as they would be seen as vulnerable.
Sad times for a great town but I believe they have a CCTV image so lets hope hes caught soon.
